After our presentations at VLDB and IDEAS
and after the IT prize ceremony in Nice I
was asked by several professors and teachers
in the field of DBMS whether I
can make our animations and presentations
of the UB-Tree access method publicly available
so that they can be used for teaching purposes.
I put an annotated Powerpoint presentation with
animations and the PDF with annotations on the MISTRAL Web Server,
which you may use for your lectures and also freely
distribute among your colleagues and students.
The basic presentation containing animations and detailed comments
as well as further references on UB-Trees can be found under URL
http://mistral.in.tum.de/results/presentations/ppt/ubtree.ppt (0,8 MB)
From this Powerpoint presentation I have also created PDF slides
and a PDF document with the slides, one per page with detailed comments.
http://mistral.in.tum.de/results/presentations/ppt/ubtree-comments.pdf (~2,5 MB)
http://mistral.in.tum.de/results/presentations/ppt/ubtree-slides.pdf (~ 3,3 MB)
or for both in Winzip format
http://mistral.in.tum.de/results/presentations/ppt/ubtree-pdf.zip (~ 5,3 MB)
In addition, you find animations describing the UB-Tree algorithms
of Z-address calculation, insertion, point query and range query
algorithms under the URLs
http://mistral.in.tum.de/results/presentations/ppt/zaddress.ppt (~ 0,5 MB)
http://mistral.in.tum.de/results/presentations/ppt/insert.ppt (~ 0,5 MB)
http://mistral.in.tum.de/results/presentations/ppt/pointquery.ppt (~ 0,2 MB)
http://mistral.in.tum.de/results/presentations/ppt/rangequery.ppt (~ 0,7 MB)
The four algorithm animations above contain Powerpoint macros for automated replay,
of the animations. If you do not want to use these macros, please deactivate them in
the checkbox that pops up when starting the animations. Then you can
proceed with the animations by pressing the space key during the PPT presentation.
All PPT files (the UB-Tree Basics as well as the four algorithms)
can also be downloaded in Winzip Format under URL
http://mistral.in.tum.de/results/presentations/ppt/ubtree-ppt.zip (0,7 MB)
We would be happy to get your comments and suggestions for the slides,
